OCR does not change PDF at all

11 posts in this topic

I am brand new to the product, so forgive my ignorance.

With scanned documents, I click to use the OCR function, but the resulting PDF is not editable nor can I search for words. It also does not straighten the scanned page. It is still just treating the body of the text as an image after running OCR. I can't select text either. Any ideas?

Thank you,

David

Hey David,

I have removed it. I'll send an email back to david@financialharvest.com with the file!

Best,

Rebecca

I have had the program for a week and OCR has been working fine.  Now this morning OCR looks like it's working, but the result is as above - cannot select any words.  The engine itself works because I can convert to Word.  And by the way, how do I change my display name?

Hi Bob,

The words in the OCRed file is not selectable? I am guessing that this is not a common case, but just that particular PDF file?

What display name do you want to change to be in this forum? And we will try to operate that for you.

Thanks,

Heidi

Hi - so I am new to PDFelement 6 Pro (trial) - so forgive my ignorance too.  I need an education.

have a PDF document - text is not searchable.

- Opened the pdf using PDF elements Pro and used the OCR tool, then searched on contents and found text I searched on (so far so good.)

- when I try to save pdf, system wants my PDF element6 pro licence agreement - using trial so cancelled.

- Then Saved the OCR document as a PDF (print >> save as PDF) and searched on the content again.

- text was not searchable

how do I test OCR converted pdf is searchable?

thanks.

Hi Eve,

Glad to know that you are getting to know our program.

For your information, Limitations for the trial version on Windows:

• Automatically add trial watermark to all the output files.
• PDF conversion only converts half of the page, or up to 5 pages in total.
• Batch data extraction is limited to 2 files only.
• The OCR results can only be displayed instead of being exported.

So I am afraid that you can only see the OCRed result within our program but cannot export the OCRed file.

Please kindly understand.

Heidi

- used the OCR tool.

- saved as a new pdf.

- searchable
